How does Halotherapy Work?

Halotherapy uses a halogenerator to reproduce and monitor the therapeutic microclimate of natural salt caves and mines. From the device comes a fine aerosol that is sterile, negative ion charged, and saturated with a monitored concentration of dry salt. While relaxing in a re-created Salt Cave, clients breathe in the regulated salt, which is immediately transported to every part of the respiratory tract; even the smallest bronchioles and alveoli. Once in place, the dry salt molecules dissolve and attract small impurities, which are positively charged, and through which are subsequently able to be either coughed up or which leave the body during metabolic processes via the bloodstream.

The treatment, when recommended protocol is followed, may eliminate the root of inflammatory respiratory illnesses (lower or upper tract, asthma, bronchitis as well as allergies and catarrh) by destroying bacteria and restoring health and immunity.

Halotherapy is a safe and effective way to clear the airways. It works as a “gentle brush” to clean the airways and lungs of mucus, allergens, pollutants and other impurities.

When finely ground salt particles get into the airways, they start stimulating cilia movements, which improves the movement of mucus, bacteria and any other irritants.

The sodium chloride delivered via halotherapy also changes the consistency of mucus, making it thinner and less sticky – and easier to expectorate. Combined with its potential to stimulate cilia movement, sodium chloride is an important contributor to airway clearance.

Dry Salt Aerosol works by inhibiting the bacteria, which can cause respiratory tract infections.

These microscopic photos illustrate efficiency of this mechanism on the cellular: the left photo shows a colonization of respiratory epithelial cells by S. pneumoniae; the right photo was taken after a 12 day course of halotherapy sessions, showing that the the respiratory epithelial cells are free of bacteria.

Dry salt aerosol strengthens the local immunity of respiratory tract and reduces its sensitization to common allergens.

Dry salt aerosol benefits for skin:

  • Fortifies skin’s protective barrier
  • Stimulates microcirculation
  • Reduces inflammatory, anti-bacterial and anti-edematous effects
  • Helps normalize skin’s pH-balance
  • Promotes healthy tissue regeneration
  • Promotes elasticity
  • Facilitates deeper penetration of skin care products
  • Clears impacted follicles to prevent acne formation
  • Promotes gentle exfoliation
